Review Policy & Requests
The Word Nerd Reviews (WNR) will consider both mainstream publisher and self-published works.
However, if self-published please make sure that it has had at least one read through by a professional proof-reader or editor. I can, and will, ignore the odd typo or grammatical error, but a book that is full of these errors distracts from the story and impacts the enjoyment of the novel.

All reviews are the honest opinion of the author. The Word Nerd Reviews does not receive any financial compensation from publishers or authors in lieu of a review. WNR may receive free or ARC copies of books but any reviews published on this site, or any other associated with WNR, are the opinion of the author and not influenced in any way by authors and/or publishers.

A review cannot be guaranteed for all books accepted for consideration. This is primarily due to two reasons: a) I work full time and I study at university. This means that unfortunately I don’t have all the time I would like to read. b) due to this limited reading time, I am selective in what I read, and this is also dependent on my mood at the time.

Release or Special Event deadlines will always be taken into consideration and I will do my best to ensure the review is up and available before, or within the first week, of release.
Please keep in mind that sites such as Amazon will not allow reviews until the book is released and ‘live’ on their system. I will place reviews on such sites once allowed, as soon as practical after the release date. I have no control over how long Amazon hold onto reviews before they release them; the 'hold' period seems to be completely random. I’ve had reviews released instantly to them being held for a week, and everything in between.
Rating System:
My ratings generally run from 1-5 stars, although because I don’t like to be a source of negative publicity, I will not normally review anything I rate under 3 stars, did not finish (DNF), or just did not enjoy. In these cases, I will usually not leave a review. I do not like risking an author's reputation or finances. Reading is subjective, and just because I didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean that 100s of others won't.
3 stars is an ‘average’ but enjoyable read.
4 stars is something that I really enjoyed and would likely read again.
5 stars had that something special that made it stand out from the rest.

Requests

Requests to review a title will be considered from authors and/or publishers.
​
Books must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to their release date, unless prior arrangements have been made.
​
The Word Nerd Reviews is happy to consider titles that have already been released.
If your request is related to a special promotional event, please make sure to advise the date and any necessary additional information. Books must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to any deadline.

Books should be submitted in either .epub or .mobi format. WNR is also happy to accept books via Netgalley (email for details), Prolific Works, Bookfunnel etc.

If you are interested in submitting your book for review, please use the contact form. In your message, please include information about your book including plot, content warnings (if any) release date (or when you’d like the review released), and anything else you would like to add about your book.
Please also include your email address in the body of the message as it sometimes drops out of the form.
